How to solve:
All throughout the conference, they were stating that BSides Greenville started about 7 years ago. Since this was 2024, that would put the conference in the 2017 territory.
To find the correct answer required some OSINT.
I started off with just a quick google search for “BSides Greenville 2017.” That returned some promising results. They have an X (F.K.A Twitter) account that joined in July of 2017, so the year appears to be correct. There is also a link to BSides.org’s “EventHistory”.
I opened up the BSide’s Event History page first and performed a search for the name BSidesGreenville.
The first recorded event was March 10th, 2018. I tried inputting 03/10/2018, but the answer was incorrect. So I re-read the question and asked someone else for a sanity check. Take note that it is written as “originally scheduled” and not “held.”
Since my first guess was taken, I decided to scroll through the BSidesGVL Twitter in order to see if they posted anything about the event happening in 2017.
With these tweets, it can be surmised that the “originally scheduled” date would be December 9th, 2017. Putting in 12/09/2017, you will get the correct answer.
